Tracy Defoe thinks it is important that people find meaning and satisfaction in their work, so it isn’t work at all. She is also a big advocate for the kind of informal learning from peers and mentors, and the learning-by-doing that Awkward Stage Productions achieves through youth theatre. Tracy is an adult education consultant and researcher specializing in the learning that happens at work. Through her company, TLFI The Learning Factor Inc., Tracy has a chance to work with all kinds of organizations in Canada. Most of her charitable interests focus on literacy and education. Tracy Defoe has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in French, (mais oui!) and a Master of Arts in Education (Curriculum and Instruction) both from the University of British Columbia. Tracy is an avid theatregoer and supporter of the arts – and has spent a memorable 10 years as an improv mom!
Leslie Marsh is an academic affiliated with the Dean’s Office, UBC Medical School; the New England Institute of Cognitive Science and Evolutionary Studies, University of New England; and the Institute for Forensic Science Administration, Fairleigh Dickinson University. Leslie is passionate about the performance arts, especially music and dance and all things New Orleans which of course includes music, dance and food! Leslie is strategic-minded professional with extensive experience in organizational development and marketing for academic and non-profit organizations. He has a track record of raising public awareness, increasing membership and donations, engaging new partners, and launching new programs.
Sandra Herd: Sandra has an Hon. BA and LLB from Western University and that training has come in surprisingly handy as Awkward’s producer and publicist. She has been involved for years in many aspects of the production of school and community theatre productions, and with Awkward Stage Productions she has helped lead 13, Smile and two cabarets of Baby, It’s Cold Outside to life and success. Recently, she has inadvertently become a puppet maker, gives puppet making workshop and sat on a Fringe ‘Puppet in Theatre’ panel. Sandra brings major production credit to the table with her legal training and a strong desire to make ASP succeed!
