Dracula: The Musical?
Before Edward and Twilight, there was the Count!
Dracula is the original vampire: sexy, mesmerizing, frightening and…..musical? Awkward Stage Productions presents Rick Abbot’s version of the classic Bram Stoker tale as a comedy musical with toe tapping tunes and plenty of laughs; it’s a bloody funny farce!
Join the transformation of the staid and uptight Mina Seward and her family as they quickly succumb to the Count’s charms and vibrato. Riding to their rescue is the Indiana Jones of the spats set, Dr. Van Helsing. Adding to the chaos is the ‘pet’ inmate of the family asylum business, Boris, and the visiting actress, Bubu Padoop (Chelsea Powrie), who tries to seduce….well anyone really. Taking care of them all is the lovely and LUSHous young maid.
Dracula: The Musical? is perfectly at home in the deliciously creepy Chapel Arts downtown, a refurbished vintage funeral home. The atmosphere is further charged with the sumptuous ‘deconstructed’ Victorian costumes designed by Debbie Wiecke.
Don’t miss this Halloween treat!
